You should not use a whitener on your teeth while you have braces on because it can cause uneven coloration on your teeth. I also do not recommend using whitening tooth paste at this time. You should just continue your normal routine of cleaning your teeth and maintaining your gums as your orthodontist recommends. Please be sure to keep up your the practice of brushing, using the water pick, etc. If you do not keep up your dental hygene while you are in braces, you can end up with scarring to the teeth that will be very hard to get rid of.

Once the braces are off, and you can see what your smile looks like, then you should see if you need whitening.
Reply:you should probably wait to whiten them, because when the braces come off you might have uneven coloring, you know like white spots where the braces were? its a pretty common problem. but afterward, i would say you could either try those Crest White strips, i know my step mother uses them and she said they work well. or if thats too pricey, you could just try brushing with baking soda. it doesnt taste too well, but it kind of works pretty well. makes your teeth feel nice too.
Reply:Brush your teeth more often and floss that's my advice
Reply:Yes wait, because the teeth under your braces are going to be a different colour anyways. (I had braces for three years)
Reply:braces make ur teeth loo more yellow then they really are..buy some good whitening tooth paste (colgate, crest aguafresh)..and make sure u brush then for the standard two minutes 2ice a day..that way ur teeth will be getting whiter and mre heathly..when u get ur braces off..then u get ur teeth cleaned..and ur teeth will look great! good luck and i know this willw ork for you!=)
Reply:wait definitly, if you get the whitening under you braces where it won't come out it will eat your enamel off your teeth and that brings up a whole new can of worms, and then go to your doctor the crest strips eat it away too, but the tooth paste is really good.
Reply:umm...i would just wait until you get your braces off, because you might have little gray spots on your teeth when your braces do come off, and that's not very attractive! if your teeth are really yellow or gray and you really really want to whiten them i think that you could, and if you do end up having gray spots, have your teeth professionally whitened. it's expensive, but it works. i have braces too and i've been using toothpaste that has whitener in it...so i hope the difference in my teeth isn't too bad when i get my braces off either!
Reply:Kill to birds with one stone.

Use bras so.
Reply:you should definitely wait until your braces come off.

but in the meantime, brush and floss ALL THE TIME because if you don't ((this may sound gross)) the food stuck in your braces can rot, causing discoloration on your teeth. they're those little white spots on teeth.

i wouldnt recommend using any of those strips either. if you can remember how your teeth felt before braces, they feel kinda glossy and smooth. this is called enamel. by using the strips, the enamel wears down, weakening your teeth. use a little bit of baking soda to whiten your teeth, but either way don't worry, because once your braces are off, everyone will be dazzled by your new smile!
Reply:I recently had my teeth whitened at the dentist. They do it the best so I suggest you go to your dentist.
Reply:You should wait. It'd be hard to whiten where your braces sit and this could cause some discoloring. Also, not to scare you, but sometimes removing braces takes enamel off your teeth. In this case, you'd be facing another problem. My suggestion would be...

Wait until they come off and then talk to your dentist. I know my dentist highly recommends the Crest Whitening Strips. He even sells them in his office.

If it's going to be awhile before they are removed you should get a whitening toothpaste. Crest has an overnight whitening toothpaste in a dark blue box. It's really good.

Also, make sure you floss while you have the braces on. Braces are to make your teeth beautiful! You don't want cavities later.

Hope I was some help. :) Good luck!!
Reply:I had braces. Because of the glue and white spots (demineralization) that i assure u will occur after they are taken of... wait! After treatment the most efficient and quick way is to go to an Oral Hygienist. They take of all the glue and bleach your teeth for life!
Reply:You should wait til the braces come off to whiten them.Your dentist can tell you how.
Reply:Use regular detergent based tooth paste
Reply:wait until your brace is removed.
Reply:I wouldn't wihteten them know whnat untile they are off.
Reply:It really won't be effective until your braces are removed and the cement that is used to bond the braces are smoothed and polished away. I suggest you have your teeth cleaned in the office before having them whitened by a professional. The in office session is a very good start to much whiter teeth, now you have to stay away from staining foods and drinks. For 24 hours after having the procedure done, you can't have any coffee, coke or anything like that. Then a simple over the counter whitening toothpaste will help you maintain your new shade. Good luck!
Reply:Yes, you have to wait until the braces are off (you don't have a choice anyways and even if you did you'd have different colored teeth when they were taken off.) Like some people were saying make sure you're brushing really good especially along the gumline. If you leave plaque there it can cause white spots on the tooth. These spots won't go away. Baking soda doesn't really do anything. Just pick a toothpaste that you like--there isn't much difference. Whitening toothpastes don't really work and can make your teeth more sensitive because they are more abrasive. After braces I recommend getting bleach trays made at your dentist. They are better then the in-office bleaching because you'll have them forever and you can touch up your teeth whenever you want--usually every 6-12 months.
Reply:wait let ortho treatment get over then go for whitening
Reply:Normally a good dentist will not offer to bleach your teeth with braces on. Wait until they come off. They probably do not need bleaching, the braces themselves make them appear darker. Brush well and floss between the bands.
Reply:mouth wash and brush ur teeth 4 an our
