Does brushing your teeth w. baking powder make them whiter?
Not powder, baking SODA. haha use baking soda and peroxide. that should do it
Reply:Yeah...supposedly.

Try it./
Reply:add a little hydrogen peroxide to the B. soda- a dentist told me that
Reply:Suppose too....
Reply:It does not make your teeth whiter, but if you can stand the salt taste, it is very effective.
Reply:hydrogen peroxide is toxic dont put that in ur mouth.
Reply:strawberries, baking soda look around at the dollar tree they have whiting stuff sometimes.. and proxide is good for killing germs jus dont swallow the proxide
Reply:yes, i have heard that, but i couldn't proove it.

good luck.

*dont use white strips! they are bad for your teeth. and make your teeth sensitive..
Reply:You can make a mix of Baking soda, peroxide and salt and brush with this every week or two. Not more because the peroxide will irritate your mouth. It may bubble if you have a lot of bacteria in your mouth. This is a good way to keep the mouth clean. You can use salt and BS more often. They both have an abrasive quality to them so they remove tartar and also my remove some enamel if you really go too far with it. You can get a bleaching from the dentist but getting cleanings and using the routing mouth care like this one is good enough. If we all had lots of money we'd have crowns like the people in Hollywood, but I don't have that do you? Good luck. Miss Mary
Reply:salt works good.dont use rock salt or you will be asking how to fix a broken tooth
Reply:Baking SODA, not powder, and it is effective, however it is also very abbrasive and if you over do it you can damage the enamel on your teeth. There are toothpastes out there that already having baking soda in them. Go with that. And, if you want, occasionally put a little extra on top of your toothpaste from time to time.
Reply:You must be thinking of baking SODA. It's completely different from baking powder. Soda was used for decades before "toothpaste" became heavily manufactured and used. It neutralizes odors in your mouth to a degree, plus it's mildly abrasive, which probably helps scrub and polish your teeth. A lot of people who don't like strong mint flavor and/or artificial sweeteners and/or fluoride, use baking soda. It certainly won't hurt you. Baking POWDER, on the other hand.....never heard of that one.
Reply:I saw a story on this the other day. The short answer is yes Baking SODA (not powder) will help to make your teeth whiter.

It was also reported that if you first dipped your tooth brush in ashes and then in the baking soda it would be more effective. The ashes would be cigarette ashes or some other food source that was burned into ashes if the cigarette is not pleasing to you.

Be sure to brush your teeth with regular toothpaste after to get the enamel on the teeth protected again.

An alternative is to brush with lemon juice straight from the lemon. Note that this will definitely make your teeth whiter but it will remove the enamel more quickly as well. If you choose to use the lemon please do not do this excessively and again brush with toothpaste when you are done.

Believe it or not..... It works.
Reply:brushing your teeth with baking powder makes the pain go away if you have toothache. you need to wash your teeth with Colgate whitening gel 3 times a day I'm pretty sure it will help.
Reply:thats what i've heard, but i've never actually tried it
Reply:Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries but certain precautions have to be taken. I found the information at http://www.aches.in/toothwhitening.html
